This year, Theta Chi decided to raise money for Marguerite Bennett Folger, the chair of the Department of Speech, Theatre and Dance here at UT.

So far, Folger has run three half-marathons and two full marathons, and she is currently training for the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon to be held in Anchorage, Alaska, on June 17, 2006. She will be running this marathon, as she has for three of her previous marathons, as a member of Team In Training, the country’s largest endurance training program and as a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Folger’s fundraising goal for this marathon is $5,500, the largest amount she has tried to raise yet.

To raise money for Folger through their theme week, Theta Chi sold tickets for their St. Patrick’s Day party held in the Rathskeller. All in all, Theta Chi raised over $700 towards Folger’s cause. Their efforts and accomplishments are remarkable, and they deserve great praise for their commitment to give back to society.

If you would like to contribute to Folger’s cause, even in small amounts, you can donate through her website, at http://www.active.com/donate/tntscfl/tntscflMFolger1, send a check (made out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and addressed to Ms. Folger) to 2116 W. Dekle Ave, Apt. 2, Tampa, FL
